Fishing

Whether you are wetting a line for the first time or consider yourself a “pro” the Whitefish Chain of Lakes region is abundant in many species including blue gills, crappie, walleye, northern pike and large mouth bass. Lake trout are being stocked annually into Trout Lake. Ask your lodging host the best place to drop your line.

Everything from the worms to a guide are available when you arrive to help you hook into a memorable experience. Check with your lodging property before your arrival, as they may sell live bait. Also ask your lodging property for their recommendations on experienced area fishing guides.

FISHING REPORT
Walleye are hitting large minnows worked in 22 - 28 feet of water. Long lindy rigs continue to produce the best results. Anglers are also picking up some fish trolling crank baits in the evening and early mornings. Northern pike and hitting spinner baits or pike minnows worked along the weed line. Bass are active along the weed line with plastic worms or frogs providing fisherman with plenty of action. Big blue gills are still biting; try 16’ - 20’ of water. Crappies are being found in 16 - 18 feet of water with jigs and minnows.
