Market in the Park in full swing in Pequot Lakes

Every Thursday, yet another well-loved Whitefish Chain area event takes place- Market in the Park.

Market in the Park is a weekly Pequot Lakes event that takes place throughout the summer. In the center of Pequot is the Trailside Park, and every Thursday vendors of all kinds line the trails with tents and sell their goods, crafts and foods. Market in the Park has been going for more than eight years and is a popular event in town.

The Paul Bunyan trail through Pequot becomes delightfully crowded with pedestrians on Thursdays, as they walk in the sunshine and check out all the tents and displays. Visitors will find a little bit of everything displayed along the trail on Thursdays, with an average of 25 vendors at the market every week. And, every week the vendors are a little different, so the market is never the same twice. The event is a great mid-week activity for adults and families.

Brent Rocks often brings his engraved rocks, which are a popular item. Goods and crafts are plentiful, including jewelry, purses and candles, not to mention baked goods and woodwork.Live engraving is usually available at one of the booths and fun to watch. Sometimes Market in the Park will also have artwork, photography, crocheted goods, and more.

Make a day of Market in the Park by visiting the other nearby brick-and-mortar shops, also along Government Drive as well as on Main Street and in the Jack Pine Center. If you find yourself hungry after all your shopping, stop at the kettle corn booth or other food booths in Market in the Park. Or, visit any of the several restaurants that are within walking distance. Within a short walk you’ll find Lakes Latte, which is great for coffee and sandwiches; Boardwalk Scoops, which has ice cream and treats; the Hungry Loon, which serves breakfast and lunch; and soon a new Mexican restaurant will open along Hwy. 371, in the former location of Pestello’s restaurant.

Parking for Market in the Park is easy, with many spots along Government Drive just feet away from the Paul Bunyan Trail.

There’s currently some construction on County Road 11, which Pequot Lakes visitors might hit if they are coming to town from the east. The center of town is still easy to reach, though, by following the well-marked detour south of town and heading north on Hwy. 371. Come into town to see all that Pequot Lakes has to offer!

Market in the Park is free to attend, and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday through Aug. 18.
