Weekly Summer Events
Be sure you're in town for at least one of these fun community events.
Tuesdays: Big Fun Tuesdays, Crosslake
Runs June 29 - August 17, 2010
This is the newest weekly event in the region. Big Fun Tuesdays offer free, family fun Paul Bunyan style from 1 – 3 pm in Crosslake Town Square. The headline event is minnow races at 2 pm. Other activities include:
• Pancake Toss (with Paul Bunyan-sized "pancakes")
• Campfire stories (children’s story hour of tall tales or other fun stories!)
• Gunny Sack Races (in Paul's giant socks, of course!)
• Fish Toss (with a few big ones that didn't get away)
Water Wars (Paul Bunyan's tears) will also be available for a small fee.
Area businesses will be offering specials and BIG activities throughout Crosslake.
Thursdays: Market in the Park, Pequot Lakes
Runs July 1 - September 2, 2010
Shop from local vendors, grab a bite to eat and participate in a variety of great games. Festivities for this weekly event start at 9 am and continue until 4 pm. Participate in a kids’ bobber hunt between 10 and Noon in search of 50 bobbers. Then, take aim with Bobber Bowling at 1 pm — use a giant bobber as a bowling ball to try to knock down Paul Bunyan-sized pins.
Fridays: Duck Races, Pine River
Try your luck floating a plastic duck down the famous Pine River at the Pine River dam, just east of downtown Pine River. A shotgun kicks off the first race on Fridays at 2 pm. Registration is at 1:45 pm. A free fishing seminar is also held at 3:30 pm at the Lions Shelter House just north of the Pine River Dam. Then, Pine River’s Farmer’s Market begins at 2:30 pm on Friday.
