Frozen Fore tees off this weekend!

This weekend a celebration for a good cause takes place just a stone's throw from the Whitefish Chain. The Gull Lake Frozen Fore consists of several events and raises money for worthy local charities. The event bills itself as the world's largest golf and snowmobile charity event. Every year the event is held at the end of February, and this year's is this weekend, Feb. 23-25. Check out the video above to get an idea of the fun!

The fun begins on Friday night, Feb. 23, with the Frozen Flop (the northerly version of the polar plunge!). Organizers say that this event is unique in that it takes place under a heated tent, out of the wind. Test your stamina and support great causes by taking the literal leap into the icy cold water of Gull Lake on Hole in the Day Bay.

The next morning the main event begins with a kickoff pancake feed on the ice of Gull Lake. After the feed, snow golf begins. Hop on the provided shuttles or your own snowmobile and travel to nine holes of winter golf located around the lake. The golf club and tennis balls are provided, so there's no reason to bring your own. Each hole is a unique and different challenge, and some hold opportunities to win prizes!

After a day of golf, there's a tent party Saturday night on the ice under a heated tent with live music.

The fun continues on Sunday with a food fest, where local restaurants gather to show off their culinary abilities. Once again under a heated tent for comfort, the restaurants will compete to be the crowd's favorite.

Proceeds from the entire weekend go to the Confidence Learning Center and Kids Against Hunger. The event's goal is to raise $3o,000. The Confidence Learning Center (often just called Camp Confidence) is an outdoor center for people with developmental and cognitive disabilities, as well as the deaf, and their families. Kids Against Hunger is a non-profit that seeks to provide nutritious food to impoverished families all over the world as well as locally. Both charities are more than worthy of a frosty dip in the lake or a weekend of fun golf and food! If you can't participate in the event, you can still donate to the cause and have your dollars matched. See the Frozen Flop website for details.

While online registration for the event is closed, you can still pick up tickets for the Frozen Fore at any of the following locations: Zorbaz on Gull, Sherwood Forest Lodge in Lake Shore, Cragun's resort, Side Track Bar and Restaurant, Ernie's on Gull or Jake's on Gull Lake.
