You've got not one, but two choices for outdoor movies this weekend! That's right, both the Trailside Center in Pequot Lakes and the Army Corps Recreation Area in Crosslake are hosting outdoor movies this Friday and Saturday night, respectively. Both events are free.
This is your opportunity to spend some time with family and friends while entertained by both the movie and the spectacular night sky above the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. Bring your blanket and pillows or your lawn chair, get comfy and enjoy the show.
The Trailside Center is located off Patriot Avenue, formerly Highway 371. The movie night is free and open to anyone, and popcorn will be free as well. The movie is not being announced, but clues will be released before the movie on the Facebook event page. Guess the movie (on your honor, no using Google!) and enter your guess in a drawing at the movie night. Winner gets a prize! The movie begins as soon as it's dark enough to see.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, the Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Area in Crosslake will host an outdoor showing of either "A Dog's Way Home" or "Dumbo." In keeping with its mission of water safety, the Corps will host a water safety program at 7:30 p.m., followed by the movie at 8:30 p.m. Popcorn and water will be provided, though donations are accepted and go toward the holiday lights on the dam.
If you miss the shows this weekend, don't worry- there are still more opportunities for outdoor movies this summer! The Trailside Center will host another movie night on Friday, Sept. 20, and the Army Corps of Engineers will be playing "The Mighty Ducks" on Friday, Sept. 27.
