Attention music lovers of all ages: both Crosslake and Pequot Lakes host weekly outdoor concerts all summer long! Better yet, they're free! Local and travelling bands play family-appropriate music on Saturdays in both towns.
Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and head to Crosslake's Town Square or Pequot Lakes' Trailside Park for live original and cover music. Love Johnny Cash? Check out Church of Cash on Aug. 13 in Crosslake. Maybe you prefer the Beatles? You'll want to see Big Sweet Life, a Beatles tribute band playing July 30 in Pequot Lakes. Looking for a local favorite? Shane Martin plays July 2 in Crosslake.
Other bands include '50s and country bands, blues and jazz, classic rock, bluegrass, cajun, and even an Elvis impersonator. Nearly all concerts start at 7 p.m. (except for Crosslake's Sept. 3 concert, which begins at 6:30 p.m.).
Crosslake’s Outdoor Music Series takes place in Town Square, next to shops, restaurants and ice cream. If you’ve never visited Town Square, it’s just east of County Road 66 (the main road through town). Turn east on County Road 3 next to Andy’s or on Swann Drive, next to Pine Peaks, and you’ll head straight into Town Square. Rafferty’s Pizza is nearby (try the buffalo chicken pizza), and so is the Chocolate Ox (a kid’s dream store packed with candy and Kemp’s ice cream). You’ll also find clothing, gifts and artwork in Town Square.
Pequot Lakes’ Bands in the Park program takes place in Trailside Park, where bands play under a shelter. Trailside Park is located between Hwy. 371 and Government Drive in Pequot; there are plenty of parking spaces along Government Drive. As in Crosslake, there are nearby restaurants and shopping. Lucky's serves up burgers, sandwiches and entrees (including a few Irish themed dishes, like shepherd's pie), while down the street Boardwalk Scoops serves hand-dipped ice cream cones. The American Legion is just a short walk away, where all proceeds go to charities.
Check out the flyers below for details on both cities' concert schedule. Bring the family and enjoy the tunes!
