Restaurants around the Whitefish Chain know good pizza. They know it so well that they've taken it to new levels, combining interesting toppings to make delicious flavor fusions. We've listed just a few of our favorites.

Zorbaz: Zorbaz in Crosslake and on Gull both serve the Thai Pie, a one-of-a-kind pizza that's a tasty reward for those willing to try new things. The pizza starts with a peanut BBQ sauce that's reminiscent of Thai satay sauce. Then the pizza is topped with bacon, red onions, pineapple, cilantro and banana peppers. It's sweet and savory all at once. If you like cilantro, you'll love this pizza. And, if you're one of those who just can't stand cilantro, it's delicious without the herb as well.

Find Zorbaz on County Road 66 in Crosslake or off County Road 77 just south of Nisswa, on the Gull Lake Channel.

Rafferty's: Rafferty's is already unique in its combination of pizza with an Irish theme. And, like many of their topping combos, it works! They have numerous interesting pies to try, but some of them can't be missed.

Sure, several pizza places have taken on the task of making buffalo chicken into a pizza. Rafferty's, though, has perfected it. Rafferty's starts with the thinner crust that they're known for and tops it with a blue cheese sauce. Then comes their cheese blend, chicken breast marinated in buffalo sauce, red onions and, after the pizza's out of the oven, green onions. The pizza is a little spicy but not bad- and the flavor combination is on point.

Rafferty's is also home to the Fiesty Pig, and don't knock it until you try it. The pizza begins with a spicy bourbon molasses sauce (yum), and then is topped with pulled pork, smoked bacon, red onion, pickles (yes, we said pickles) and jalapenos- and then garnished with green onions when it's out of the oven. This is a spicy one but the flavors are also smokey and sweet. The tangy pickles and jalapenos really add to the pizza, and while pickles aren't the first thing you'd think to put on a pizza, you'll be glad you tried it.

Find Rafferty's in Town Square in Crosslake and in downtown Nisswa. Both stores offer dine-in or carry out. The Crosslake menu is here.

Commander: For many, pizza at Commander in Breezy Point is a long-standing tradition. They've become known for Garbage Pizza, and while the name may not sound appetizing, the pizza sells well for a reason. It's downright famous. What's on it? Well, pretty much... everything. Give it a try and find out! If you like taco pizza, try the Mexican Garbage Pizza too.

Find Commander just west of the intersection of County Roads 3 and 4 in Breezy Point, one block from the Breezy gates.

Joe's Pizza: Joe's Pizza in Pequot Lakes is known for its pizza and popular with the locals for its lunch and dinner buffets. Catch the lunch buffet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the dinner buffet on Thursdays from 5-7:30 p.m. Try the Creamy Pesto Chicken, with Alfredo sauce that has a hint of pesto, chicken, red onions and artichoke.

Find Joe's on Front Street in Pequot Lakes.

Any way you slice it- squares or triangles- these pizzas are not only unique but also serious crowd pleasers!
