It's time to cross some names off your Christmas list! Nothing beats Christmas shopping when you can visit cozy stores with festive vibes and, of course, unique gifts for those you love. Come on up to Minnesota's Whitefish Chain Area, where Christmas shopping is a blast. From Pine River to Pequot Lakes to Nisswa to Crosslake, local shops are decked out for the holidays and stocked with special gifts for your special someone.
Up in Crosslake, join in on Holly Days! Businesses across town will be offering specials through the end of the year. Simply download the Crosslake App from your favorite app store and show it to participating businesses to get the deal. Deals include drink specials, like $2 off growler fills at 14 Lakes Brewery and 10 percent off coffee at Crosslake Coffee, as well as other deals like free gift wrapping and special holiday drawings. Find a full list of all deals at the event webpage.
While you're there, pick up all your Christmas cookies and baked goods at the Christmas Bazaar, Cookie Walk and Bake Sale at the Crosslake American Legion. At a cookie walk, cookies are sold in bulk so you can pick out just the kind and exactly how many you'd like. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion just south of the dam on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Saturday is also the day of the Holiday at the Dam celebration in Crosslake from 1-4 p.m. Held at the recreation area by the dam, you'll have the opportunity to visit with Santa and have your picture taken, have some hot cocoa and roast a marshmallow for s'mores over the fire. Make an ornament as well; this event is fun for the whole family. At night the lights on and around the dam are simply beautiful.
Give back to the local community after your day of shopping by attending the 13th annual Christmas for Kids fundraiser at Maucieri's, also in Crosslake. Bring a new and unwrapped gift or make a cash donation, then enjoy an evening of celebrations with a live and silent auction. The event supports families in need across the Whitefish Chain Area. The party starts at 4 p.m.
If you make your way down to Brainerd, be sure to check out the Kringle Market at 711 Laurel Street downtown. The Kringle Market features artwork for sale made by talented local artists. It's a guaranteed one of a kind gift!
There are so many other wonderful shops to check out in the cities surrounding the Whitefish Chain of Lakes that we can't begin to list them all here. Suffice it to say that if you explore the towns, you're bound to find fantastic gifts to place under the tree this year. Happy holidays and happy shopping!
