Whether you're on the Whitefish Chain for Thanksgiving or just for some fun in our recent 12-inch snowfall, the Chain is a great place for all your Christmas shopping. While Black Friday is always known as a day of shopping, don't for get to also shop on Small Business Saturday. Shops around the chain are open for holiday shopping!
Among Pequot Lakes' list of great stores is Serendipity Art Gallery, located in the Jack Pine Center. The store features local artists from around the Whitefish Chain and beyond, with paintings, jewelry, pottery and more. In the same building, you'll find Seeds of Sommer, a health foods store that also carries essential oils, jewelry, cosmetics and more. Next door is the Celtic Cottage, filled with Irish gifts, and beyond that is Wild Daisy, a boutique and florist. Fun Sisters and Leslie's are great spots for cute clothing.
Weise Craft and Variety has everything you need for your Christmas crafts, from wreath making to trimming the tree. Nearby is Merritt Jeweler's, where you'll find the fine jewelry for that special someone. Both stores, as well as other places to find fun gifts, are on Front Street in Pequot Lakes. Turn west at the stoplights and follow the road as it curves north.
Start your morning of shopping with a stop at the Pine River Bakery, which along with its variety of donuts also sells Christmas cookies and seasonal treats. The Plaid Duck and JJ's Trading Post has great gifts as well as crafts and artwork from Pine River artisans. All along Barclay avenue in Pine River are great shops for unique gifts. G&S plants has houseplants for the green thumb of your family, not to mention cute fairy gardens.
Pine River is also home to many thrift and antique stores that carry one-of-a-kind items and collectible antiques. Gardiner's Hardware is a staple in Pine River, with just about any tool imaginable in its inventory.
Crosslake may be a spread out town, but it's not long to hop between the great stores for Christmas shopping. Judy's house of gifts, on County Road 3 just east of the intersection with County Road 66, sells a wide variety of glassware, collectibles, kids toys and more. It's been a staple in the Crosslake area for years.
At the Pineberry Plaza, across from Zorbaz, is home to Nordic Haus, where you'll find themed gifts for all your Scandinavian friends and relatives. Just down the road, Kicks on 66 and Lake Country Crafts and Cones both feature local artisans. Kicks on 66 has photography, fine art and furniture made in the area. Crafts and Cones, too, features local artisans who sell their handmade creations in the back half of the store (and after you're done shopping, treat yourself to a hot latte or cool ice cream cone!).
And don't forget about Town Square, where several shops have clothing, home goods, gifts and so much more. Lundrigans, Rustica, Crosslake Drug, Itasca Leathergoods and Lakes Area Gallery and Frame all have unique gifts for your family and friends.
While the big chain stores get all the press, local shops around the Whitefish Chain are home to gifts you won't find anywhere else. They're authentically Minnesotan, draped in a blanket of white and glittering with holiday lights. Shop local this year!
