Whether you want to kick start your day with a hot cup of coffee or warm up and relax after a day of skiing or snowmobiling, the Whitefish Chain area has some fantastic coffee shops that are cozy, comfortable and make great coffee.
Lakes Latte: Making its home base in Pequot Lakes just a stone's throw from the Paul Bunyan Trail, Lakes Latte has great coffee and sandwiches. Lakes Latte has a large, open floor plan dotted with comfortable seating and a gas fireplace that makes a great place to visit with friends or read a book. In addition to coffee, Lakes Latte has great breakfast sandwiches (try a bagel sandwich with the pepperjack cheese!), wraps and homemade soup served all day. Every day a different wrap is on special.
Stonehouse Coffee: Located in Nisswa, Stonehouse is known for its high-quality coffee and fantastic scones. All their coffee is roasted at Stonehouse and is never more than a few days out of the roaster. Owners Mike and Julie French travel the world to see where their coffee is grown and find the best-tasting joe on the planet. Their fresh-baked massive scones, too, can't be beat. Favorite scone varieties include blueberry lemon, mixed berry white chocolate, and maple bacon (it's loaded with real bacon crumbles!). The big frosted cookies also make great dippers for a hot cup of coffee.
Crosslake Coffee: One of the newest coffee shops around the chain is Crosslake Coffee. In addition to coffee beverages, they make most of their own home-baked goods and also offer made-to-order sandwiches. Usually the people making your coffee and goodies are the owners, who are friendly and ready to chat. Perhaps the best part is that every crafted drink comes with a tiny cookie on the lid. Somehow, the bakers manage to pack tons of flavor into a quarter-sized cookie!
Lake Country Crafts and Cones: The Crosslake store that sells more Kemps ice cream than anywhere else in the state is also home to a hot cup of coffee. Crafts and Cones serves Nisswa's Stonehouse coffee, so the coffee is fresh roasted and delicious. Coffee and ice cream can be combined to make tasty treats like blended shakes or espresso shots poured over ice cream. Once you finish your coffee, peruse the wide variety of crafts and goods, much of them made by local artists or artisans.
Latte Da: Just off the stop sign intersection in Pequot Lakes is Latte Da, a coffee shop adjoining the Wild Daisy boutique. Latte Da not only has coffee covered but also sells gifts, like knitted hats and scarves and kitchenware, including plates, soup mixes, dip mixes and much more.
