We’ve got plenty of trails, so don’t forget to bring the bikes. The Cuyuna Lake State Trail system offers 40 miles of mountain bike trails – including 30 different routes ranging from beginner to advanced.

If you know Minnesota at all, you know we have beautiful forests to explore. The Whitefish Chain of Lakes is no exception. Check out the Cuyuna Lake State Trail system. These trails are open to both hikers and mountain bikers.

Load up your ATV or OHV for some scenic trail rides. From state forests to grant-in-aid trails, there’s more than enough wilderness to discover. Check out the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ trail map.

With 14 lakes and miles of river water and channels, there’s something for every kayaker. Many lodging options in the Whitefish Chain have kayaks available for free or for rent for guests. Local shops offer rentals as well.

Canoeing

A trip to the Whitefish Chain is a great opportunity to go canoeing or boating, with plenty of lakes to explore. Don’t want to bring you canoe along? No problem. Bay View Lodge, on Rush Lake, offers canoeing at no extra charge to guests.

Paddleboarding is a great way to explore and enjoy the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. There are plenty of shallow launch sites and shoreline.

Mini Golf

Mini golf is huge in the Whitefish Chain. From Crosswoods Golf Course, one of the largest mini golf courses in Minnesota, to Wildwedge Mini Golf, home to a course named “Best Mini Golf in Minnesota”, you can’t go wrong. And don’t miss out on Pirate’s Cove, an all pirate-themed golf course the kids will love!

Oh yeah, we’ve got Frolf. The Whitefish Chain of Lakes is home to three free disc golf courses – Pine River, Crosslake, and Breezy Point. So gather up the family and head out for some family fun that’s easy on the wallet.

Experience 450 holes of golf within 30 miles of the Whitefish region. Our neighbors in Brainerd Lakes do golf right with courses ranging from family-friendly par-three courses, to championship-level courses designed by Arnold Palmer or Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
