If you’re looking to relax and recharge in nature, the Whitefish Chain is perfect for you. Miles of hiking trails are a perfect opportunity for hiking, birding, or geocaching. And our beautiful lakes provide excellent fishing in the summer or winter.

On the Whitefish Chain, you’ll enjoy a feast for all five senses, with breathtaking sunsets, cozy up-north furnishings and menus ranging from casual comfort food to fine dining. And if you’re looking to shop, we have three downtowns to choose from. Find gifts from handmade herbal soaps to fishing gifts and cabin decor, and more.
Things to see
From Pequot Lakes’ iconic bobber water tower, to the historic Pine River Depot, there are plenty of sites to see in the Whitefish Chain. Hit the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway or snap a photo with one of the many Paul Bunyan statues in the area. And if you visit in the summer, don’t miss Pine River’s famous, weekly duck races.

MIni Golf
Mini golf is huge in the Whitefish Chain. From Crosswoods Golf Course, one of the largest mini golf courses in Minnesota, to Wildwedge Mini Golf, home to a course named “Best Mini Golf in Minnesota”, you can’t go wrong. And don’t miss out on Pirate’s Cove, an all pirate-themed golf course the kids will love!
Frisbee Golf (Disc Golf)
Oh yeah, we’ve got Frolf. The Whitefish Chain of Lakes is home to three free disc golf courses – Pine River, Crosslake, and Breezy Point. So gather up the family and head out for some family fun that’s easy on the wallet.

Experience 450 holes of golf within 30 miles of the Whitefish region. Our neighbors in Brainerd Lakes do golf right with courses ranging from family-friendly par-three courses, to championship-level courses designed by Arnold Palmer or Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
